WIRELESS ROUTER PROBLEMS.

I have a Netgear Wireless router (Model WMDR3300) that I got in December. It's worked perfectly fine up until about 3 days ago, in which it slowed down and eventually stopped working. If I hook up my computer directly to the Netgear router with an Ethernet cord, the connection is at full power and works fine. The same goes for the PS3.

I also have Norton Antivirus which has been running for the past month with no problems. I turned it off to test if that was blocking the connection, but the internet was still not working.

When I am wireless, my computer reads that it has full bars but everything that's powered by the internet runs so slow that it's unusable, or it doesn't load at all.

My operating system is Windows 7, and the computer is about a year old. I'm not having any other problems with the computer, and the system is running up to speed.

Any suggestions on what they problem may be?

Log into the router and set the wifi security to wpa or wpa2 then change the password. Be sure all other settings are stock.

I currently have it set on WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]. I changed the password earlier, but there hasn't been a change in the internet connection through the wireless.

Look at the router web page about what is wifi connected.

With all your wifi connections turned off, is there anyone there?

There is some old advice about hiding the SSID. The lesson from the field is that's a fine way to see drops and slowdowns. It adds no security but makes my IT friends some extra cash running around turning it back on.

Shutting down the main computer.
Unplug power from the router.
Unplug power from the modem.
Wait a minute or two and plug the modem in and wait till all the lights are normal.
Plug in the router and do the same with it.
Turn on the computer and let it boot to normal.
Now try the wireless.
I have a Netgear WNR 3500L wireles router and lost the wireless side, that fixed the problem.

I've done this a couple of times. The first time, it connected for about a minute before returning to a slow state.
