DSL drops when phone rings

AT&T came out here yesterday and said there was no problem with the signal and there was no drop on their end when the phone rang. He said it must be something to do with my wireless router or my laptop.

I don't get it, but I need to be able to surf and talk at the same time.

Anyone have any suggestions?

We tracked it down to an old 2.4GHz cordless phone. Once we removed that then no more wifi drops.

I do have an old AT&T cordless phone that I am using. Not sure if it is 2.4ghz or not.

Did you switch to a newer model cordless phone? If so, what should I look for? I'll head over to Wal-Mart tomorrow and get one.

THANKS!

We just removed it as there were other cordless phones in use. Just that one was thankfully the cause.

For now, you can test it by unplugging the suspect cordless phone.

changing the channel on the router helps.

Almost all older cordless pyones used the 2.4 frequency. Newer phones use around 6 or 9 GHz.
