Something wrong with my USB drive?
I'm having an odd problem. I have an 8 GB Sandisk Cruzer Blade. I was copying some movies to it so i can watch it on my TV, but the weird thing is, i can copy any other file normally at the standard 5-6mbs speed. But when i copy an avi file, the speed rockets to 70-80mps and doesnt even fully copy. It gets stuck in the middle or near the end and I cant even cancel it. Only way to fix this is unplug and replug the drive to stop the copying. Any ideas why this might be happening?
Disabling/turning off a hard drive (win 7)?
Hey guys, is there a convenient way to turn off a hard drive in windows? i know it can be done through bios, and of course physically, but is there a way to do it in win7?
For those wondering, one of my drives started screwing up, some files got corrupted but most seem fine. I want to turn it off so as not to accidentally make reads/writes to it, further damaging it...

Just bought a CF-18 MK2, will soon upgrade to SSD and 1.2MB RAM.
Hi everyone I am new to this forum, and love it. Thanks to previous questions and answers I manage to do a clean installation whit tablet buttons, display rotation and all the drivers working whitout the recovery CDs. Not easy but reading carefully and searching will do it. I did get hold of a CF-18DD MK2 in extremly good condition and all original panasonic, even the battery will last for a good while and its panasonic.
CPU: 1.1Ghz
RAM: 768MB
HDD: 40GB 4200rpm
Pic. on the new CF-18
.
Windows boot time 51.3sec whit original 40GB 4200rpm, 768MB RAM.
"All drivers installed and a new copy of Windows XP Tablet SP2 installed, also adobe reader and SVG View. Time calculated in complete windows load up and wireless balloon will tell there is wifi detected nearby"
Battery time, 3hours 28minutes (Is that good?, how much will it hold new?)
"Battery time was counted whit screen on full brightness, all power saving options like screen saver, power save mode and so on was off. And wifi was connected all time. Battery was charged for 6hours before test"
In 1week I will get my SSD and RAM and will post new time on both battery and boot to this topic. Battery will not be in use during the time waiting for parts.

Certain websites occasionally not working
I'm not entirely sure what the problem is. It's been a pretty frequent problem for the last couple weeks, and I've done some googling and such and figured out how to temporarily fix it, but it always comes back.
Anyways, the problem is, certain websites (seems to happen most frequently with the websites that I visit most often; twitter, wikipedia, reddit, etc.) will just stop working (browser tells me it couldn't find the website (plus another error that I'll try to add when it happens again, something about not finding the page "/") and it happens in all browsers). The solution I've found through googling is to go into cmd and type "ipconfig /flushdns". I have no idea what this does, for all I know it could be doing harm to my computer, but after doing that and then clearing my browser cache, the website generally starts working again. Eventually, the problem will come up again and I'll have to repeat this process.
I use Microsoft Security Essentials as well as Malware Bytes and neither have found a virus/malware/whatever recently (I did have some when the problem started, so I'm thinking they may have messed with some files or something and it needs to be fixed).
I'm not exactly a computer expert so if anybody has a clue as to what I need to do to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Boot Issue, loop stuck. please help
Hi, This is my first thread.
I'm a new owner of an M15X since 2 weeks ago.
Alienware M15X
Intel Core I7, 1,73Ghz.
RAM 8gb. 1333Mhz.
ATI Mobility Radeon HD5860
500Gb. Hard Drive
Today, I tried to start my laptop as usual and a strange thing happened.
I heard the fan spinning as usual, but like starting over, slipping, and the laptop won't boot. It was stuck like in a loop. It reminded me to my old car trying to start in a cold winter's morning. I waited a few seconds, pushed the button again and it started normally.
Is this something normal? Could it be realated to the hard drive, the fan, the bios ? What should I do? I cannot return this laptop since I live in Israel and I bought it in the USA.
I want to prevent future data losses. I work as a professional musician, so if it happened to me in a show it would be really embarassing!
Thank you for any suggestions. Happy New Year! Gus.
