Remove Progress page before logon page

Hi
I had two windows in my hard and I removed one of them.but when the windows are loading, a progress page appears before logon page. I don't know what it's for. I also remove the line of last windows from the boot.ini but the problem still exists...

Does anyone know what it's for?

thanks ahead

What we normally see when there are two Windows OSes installed is a "Dual Boot" menu. Then you can select which Windows to load.

But that is not called a Progress page, so tell us what you are seeing.

Which versions of Windows did you have installed?

Can you copy the text of the Boot.ini file and paste it into a post here? Then we can see whether anything else needs be done to the Boot.ini file.

No No...my meaning was not the selection menu. in fact, after it and before appearing logon page, a black page appears that has a black and white progress bar in its below:

Boot.ini content is :
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

I see such a progress bar when Windows wasn't shutdown but hibernated. It tells something like 'resuming Windows'.

Could that be the cause?

Do you mean like this?

If so, then that is the normal Windows XP is loading screen. XP has always had that.

Your Boot.ini looks fine.

@kees : I see too.but I didn't see this already. exactly like loading hibernated windows, but it appears when I restart my system and it takes long time.

1: boot loader and selection menu
2: progress page like => http://amirkabirhotel.com/progress.jpg
3: logon progress and then logon page

also, my hard disk has some bad sectors and the last win spoiled for this reason...
I don't know if it's for this :-?

That is a holdover from XP's Windows 2000 roots, and can probably be traced back quite a ways down the NT line. It's "normal" in that it's always been there, it's just usually it clears so fast most people never even know it was there.

You typically only see it when your system is either woefully underpowered for running XP or you have some kind of a hardware issue causing performance issues like a bad HDD.

If it's taking a long time for it to complete, then I would suspect that your HDD has more issues than just a few bad sectors, though I seem to be missing the part where you tell us what the specs are on your system. If it's a PII-400 with 128MB of RAM or something like that, it's a wholly different story from say an Athlon64 2GHz with 1GB of RAM.

Thanks Jimmy
Really? it depends on system specifications? :-?
but I hadn't saw that with this system. my system specs is:
Celeron CPU 2.80GHz with 512MB of RAM

how can I fix this problem?
Do I have to format HDD, or buy another or doing any action else?

Probably it wouldn't even be faster.
