The total was in the upper $2600s, but I used that coupon code and it brought my total down to $2226. Pretty good considering the comp is maxed out accept for the ram (8gb instead of 16gb). It was a hard decision between this and the m14x, but in the end portability won.

LOL , you are buying the ssd from dell directly?

Wow!!......

Yowza!! I can't speak with any knowledge on the quality of the SSD provided by Dell, but you sure can get them cheaper elsewhere and throw it in yourself. My specs were exactly the same except I got the 500 GB hard drive., all for

$1118.00.

Someone needs to publish a Public Service Announcement about the ridiculous cost of the Dell SSDs on the main Alienware forums page!

nice!!! going to be awesome

$2600 for an M11x? Snap son!!

That's US Dollars or some other obscure, and hopefully devalued, currency?

You probably don't want to hear this, but i'll say it for the sake of anyone considering following your majestic and legendary path - DONT DO IT!

Max out the processor and that's it. Go as cheap as you can on memory, and disk - you can pick them up much cheaper elsewhere and they are simple to install yourself.

I checked Newegg to see what SSDs they had and at what price. The SATA SSDs with the same or similar amount of memory were about the same price as the one from Dell.

Not sure of your needs but the Momentus XT which is a SSD/HDD Hybrid with 500gb of storage is a popular choice for upgrades and can be had for ~$100..Also,8gb DDR3 ~$75 and the Intel N 6300 for $30..I agree, max the CPU and do the other upgrades yourself.

Really? My internets must be broken then.

Dell want $500 USD for a 256gig SSD, and 10 gig of that (ish) will be the recovery partition they install for the machine. So it's actually less than 256gig.

Crucial 256gig SSD at Newegg is $419, 80 bucks cheaper than dell. A 250 gig OCZ (remember, you aren't getting 256 from Dell without repartitioning etc) is $339 ($309 with a mail in rebate), a saving obviously of nearly $200. That's a load of Steam games.

Oh well, it's too late now. The Dell SSD is $500, about the same as the other 256gb SSDs on Newegg. I'm not too upset. Actually, I'm just drooling over the prospect of unboxing this mini beast
